THE STRUGGLE WITH INFERTILITY
By Victoria Schuver Song

Children are the fulfillment of love, the completion of the trinity – father, mother, and child. Our very nature is to procreate. Nature has its own timing which we call the “biological clock”. The body seeks fulfillment. Love seeks union. A baby born is the fulfillment of nature and the union of love.

Today there are more couples than ever before having difficulty conceiving a child. There may be specific physical problems the medical profession can identify. However, simultaneously and beneath the physical there are many unseen and unidentified elements that can play a pivotal role.

We are not just physical beings. We are mental, emotional, and spiritual beings as well. All levels of being work together and are not independent of each other. If there is an imbalance in one area, all other levels are affected. The whole being needs to be address rather than just one part.

In the years of working with clients who are experiencing difficulty conceiving I have found many factors that block conception. Once those factors are addressed often times the couples conceive in a short period of time.

According to Primal Therapy, any emotion that goes unexpressed or unacknowledged within seven seconds gets stored in the body. Any emotion that lasts longer than five minutes is not about the current situation but a recall of emotions stored earlier in life triggered by the circumstances of the moment. It is no wonder our bodies malfunction, our minds fill with chatter, our emotions consume us, and our spirit feels burdened.

In working with clients throughout the years I have found interesting correlations between childhood experiences, strong emotional traumas, and physical conditions which block pregnancy. Often a child who loses their childhood and becomes an adult, a parent to their siblings, early in life due to family circumstances can become “short-circuited”. This short-circuit can create a belief within their physical and emotional body that they have already fulfilled their obligation to nature. No matter what the mind says the physical and emotional bodies are in conflict, thus creating an imbalance in the body that resists conception.

Other life circumstances that might lead to infertility are the trauma of an abusive childhood, rape, abortion, miscarriage, and the loss of a child. Each of these can create strong emotional reactions that can block the body’s normal function.

In the case of an abusive childhood there can be an unconscious fear that one would become the abuser if they had a child. Not wanting to recreate their past they deny their future by shutting down their body’s creative process. This then can lead to the creation of a physical repression that rejects pregnancy.

Rape can cause in intense emotional block to receptivity. The trauma can leave one resisting and denying their body, sexuality, and creative expression. Pregnancy is one of the most creative expressions one can experience. Many emotions accompany the rape experience such as rage, anger, fear, resentment, and guilt. Emotions locked within the body and the reproductive system may crate physical conditions such as infertility, endometriosis, irregular monthly cycles, cysts, tumors, etc.

Abortions and miscarriages are incomplete body processes. Either circumstance can be accompanied with strong emotions such as guilt, grief, anger, and fear. These emotions, when left unprocessed, can become the guard at the gate of conception and the rejection of pregnancy. Also, within this arena, another soul is involved. Often times an attachment of the soul to the mother or vice versa may occur. When this happens it can create further blocks to pregnancy. In my practice I have had numerous women who, once the emotions were processed and the soul of the baby released became pregnant immediately.

When a death of a baby at birth or in early infancy occurs, intense grief falls upon the parents. Grief can active within the body all past losses. This has a tendency to numb the body, mind, and emotions in turn rejecting further attempts to conceive. As with abortions and miscarriages, another soul is involved and a soul attachment often times will occur. To fully release the grief and the soul opens the body for another pregnancy experience.

To those of you who are currently struggling with fertility issues, I trust that this expansion of awareness will bring hope. As you look for answers to infertility, it is quite possible the answers lie within.
